Welcome, I’m Cassie and as you can see from the picture, I’m a mother of 3 beautiful children two of which were born using the HypnoBirthing® method.
Â
I’m really excited that you have come to my site, as you have taken the first steps in discovering more about HypnoBirthing® - the Mongan Method, and the best way to give birth.  I hope my birth story inspires you enough to want to give birth using this method.
Â
My first son, Bjorn, was born drug free on the 3rd June 2006. We decided on a water birth which turned out to be lovely. Â However I found the whole birthing experience traumatic, as I had no control over the birth and it was painful (to say the least). My midwives kept telling me to push during the final stages of labour, this lead to a few complications for me after the birth. Â Bjorn was born healthy but my recovery took a while and it was a couple of months before I felt myself again.
A year later and I found out we were pregnant again. My husband was full of excitement and although I wanted another child, fear kicked in. The thought of going through the same experience again terrified me. Whilst thinking about the birth I thought to myself “This can’t be the only way” There had to be something better, right?
After searching the internet I came across HypnoBirthing. The more I read the more I just knew this was the way I wanted to give birth. Â Don’t get me wrong - I had my doubts; ‘Calm? Natural? pain free?’ it sounded too good to be true.
I discussed it with my husband, who is very practical and level headed – and not the least bit ‘alternative’. His first question was “How much is it going to cost?”. Needless to say we went along to a course.
Â
After our first Hypnobirthing session I was hooked.  It all made sense and we looked forward to each session. My husband embraced the course and we both left every class feeling calm and relaxed. The practitioner helped me get over the trauma of my previous birthing experience and I was now really looking forward to the birth of our second baby. I enjoyed the birthing affirmations and practicing before bed or just listening to the music on my Ipod.
Â
After the course I practiced and practiced, learning to go deep into a relaxed state, and when the baby started to arrive everything started to unravel calmly and smoothly. My husband drove us to the hospital and he set up the room - lights turned down, my chosen music playing. Â It was perfect. Â I just followed what I had learned and practiced while my husband calmly talked to me, giving words of encouragement to help me. Â I felt in full control and the midwives became bystanders who came to monitor our progress. I breathed through all the surges and in the final stage breathed down twice and our baby arrived. We were both crying with joy. I was up and about the same evening and felt fully recovered in mind and body within the week. WOW! how different was that! My labour lasted a relatively short five hours but it felt like it lasted only one.Â
When it came to my third pregnancy I didn’t need to do another course. I found it was really easy to get right back into the music and I just reread the book. Apart from suffering from sickness for the first 4 months - which has happened in all my pregnancies - everything went smoothly. Again, I enjoyed the birth however it was completely different, in that I seemed to be more aware of the different stages of birth and could feel exactly where baby was.
Â
My sister has always been very frightened about giving birth and vowed never to have children for this very reason, so I invited her along and showed her how to do the light touch massage, which she was a natural at.  During the surges I was walking around and when I felt them come my husband whispered comforting things to me and helped me focus on my visualisations, whilst my sister continued with the light touch massage - bliss.  I knew exactly when it was timefor baby to be born and got into a position that I was comfortable with.  I managed to breathe down twice before the baby came and the midwife passed her to me. The first thing my husband did apart from cry was check the sex, “It’s a beautiful girl he said” the perfect ending to the perfect birth. Â
Within a week of having Athena I knew that I wanted to be able to share my positive experience with other mums-to-be and that I really wanted to be able to teach HypnoBirthing. Within two weeks we were travelling with Athena to Brighton where I was able to complete the course, and as they say ‘the rest is history’.
Â
The funny thing is since having our Children my husband is the first to talk about HypnoBirthing and how great it as soon as a conversation turns to childbirth or pregnancy.  Although I have not said much about the benefits it gives to your birth partner, I think is important to mention that the course also gave my husband new found the confidence when it came to childbirth and truly made him a part of the whole birthing experience not just a bystander along for the ride.
